"Growing up I spent a lot of time making objects in my parents metal, ceramic, and glass studios. Being in those environments when I was young not only launched my career doing, but also gave me a philosophy of glass making that understands the importance of balance between art and craft.
I began blowing glass at age eighteen at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After three years I took time off from school to apprentice under Fred Creswell of Seaview Art Glass. There I learned the techniques of making art nouveau glass. Towards the end of my college career I purchased S.L.O. Hotglass, which is the public glass studio that I run and work from today."

"In the hot summers when the furnace is off I spend my time traveling and teaching. This past summer I was invited to help teach six glassblowing classes offered through The Art Institute of Chicago at the Ox-Bow School of Art. I have been a guest lecturer and demonstrator at Santa Monica City College and Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as well.  In the ten months out of the year when my furnace is on I am a full time artist. It is my main passion and I would not want to be doing anything else with my life."

All Evan Chambers glass is made in his San Luis Obispo, California studio.  The colors in the glass are achieved using minerals such as cobalt oxide and metals such as silver and tin. The technique used on much of the glass is known as feathering. The feathering process happens to the glass before it is blown while it is molten hot. The hardware used in his lighting pieces is also completely handmade by Evan, and every link of chain in the hanging lamps.
