Henry Bergeson - Kaleidoscope Designer

"My idea was conceived because I had always enjoyed a good martini but couldn't find enough interesting glasses from which to drink them!"

A Henry Bergeson kaleidoscope is a marvelous blend of engineering and design. Each kaleidoscope reflects not only Henry's mechanical engineering education and talent but his love and appreciation of the wood from which they are formed. An economic downturn in his native New England (he lost his job) brought Henry to the mountains of Colorado. Eventually locating his home and workshop new Denver, he ventured into the world of kaleidoscopes. Under the mentorship of Corki Weeks, a world famous maker of scopes herself, Henry developed a style of his own. His real and "other world" experiences, his flair for design and his affinity for the materials that he uses to create his scopes have all contributed to making Henry Bergeson Kaleidoscopes an exciting addition to anyone's collection.

Now using both sides of her brain, Kathryn happily works on new designs and shapes inspired by the beauty and culture of the Bay area and ideas she gathered from her travels around the world. Together with a small group of local craftspeople and artisans who she has trained and mentored, she still manufactures, sells and keeps the books at her glass design studio near San Francisco, California.

At the end of the day Kathryn often mixes a fine martini for herself, her husband, and friends who drop by to enjoy her bar skills and the fun of drinking from her great glasses!
