Flavia Weedn - Artist, Illustrator
Flavia Weedn grew up in Los Angeles during the Post-Depression years. As a child she developed a love of color and design from her mother who was a doll maker. But it was her young uncle, Jack, who sparked her development as an artist. Of him, she said: "His great love of life led me to see the same wonder and beauty he found in the ordinary, and to share the same joy he found in the writings of the great romantic poets."
Flavia Weedn has had a prolific and celebrated career as an illustrator and artist for over fifty years. Her artistic subjects often focus on the sentimentality of relationships between families, friends, and loved ones which influenced her success as greeting-card illustrator for Hallmark and other card companies. Flavia is also a published author and illustrator of children's books and young adult books. Some of her credits include: Holdin' On, A Brave Girl's Guide to Surviving Change, Finding My Groove, Who I Am and Where I'm Going, Just Hangin' Out, Chick Chat Between Best Friends, and When I Grow Up.
Today, among many artistic endeavors, Flavia paints original and unique vintage artwork which is hand applied to wooden signs with a special focus on designs for children's rooms that can be customized and personalized.
